The Weekend, Thus Far

The ladies and I have a standing running date every Saturday morning at 9:30. We ran 59th to Battery Park again, this time in wind and rain.

Brunch at The Dutch, though, made up for the unpleasant weather. The Dutch totally didn't mind that a group of wet and sweaty women came in to potentially stink up everyone's dining experience. We didn't. They even sat us in the front room.

Next week: the full loop of Central Park and then a Boathouse brunch, as is tradition.

This is an obligatory "Got My Hair Did" photo. It's a nice change of pace to have hair that is one color, as opposed to the inadvertent ombre I'd been rocking for far too long.

And the rest of the day?

A Few From The Weekend

Under the Manhattan Bridge

It was 1,000 degrees in Manhattan this weekend, but I left the house nonethless.
Saturday: A kid's birthday party at the Beekman Beer Garden. This place is amazing. Even though you have to walk through that wreteched mall at Pier 17 to get to it, it has great beer and an expansive menu. Pulled pork! Fish tacos! Beekman Beer Garden
It's a good place to take out of town guests, especially with the amazing backdrop of the waterfront.

What is this mythical place you call...Brooklyn? Untitled

Later that same day some old friends from Syracuse washed up on shore, and we headed to STK in the Meatpacking. On a Saturday night. Because we are masochists. The food was outstanding, though, especially the side of truffle mac and cheese bites. Make sure you get a table on the roof.

This is what one wears out to have steaks on a Saturday night. The necklace: Baccarat. The dress: Filene's Basement (RIP), the clutch, H&M circa 2008. The outfit

With Jen and Kristen. I've known Jen since we were 17 and we tried out to be cheerleaders at Syracuse while we were still in high school. We did not make it. At 5'6 each, we were way too tall. Then she ended up being randomly placed on my floor freshman year. Kismet!

A Few From The Weekend

A truly great sports bra for the DD set. At Lululemon. $58.

What a great weekend. Gorgeous weather and lots to do.

First things first: I needed a new jogger bra for that half marathon that I ran on Sunday. I ventured for the first time ever into Lululemon in Union Square and picked up the Ta Ta Tamer (it's really called that) for $58. To test it, they make you jump on a trampoline. Utter genius.

Since a good jog bra is very hard to find, consider this a PSA -- and a ringing endorsement -- for the Ta Ta Tamer. Worth every penny.
To test a sports bra's worthiness, you jump on a trampoline.

These two were inseparable, as is their way on the weekends. I might as well not exist when they are up to their shenanigans.

I got a shrimp burrito from Paty's Taco. And it was right.
A shrimp burrito from Paty's Tacos = heaven

A nice sentiment.

Erin Duffy, author of Bond Girl, came to Sunday Funday book club. I was still very sore from running 13.1 miles just hours earlier, but she was hysterical.

Weekend Cat Pictures and Links

Mozart Naps

Mozart understands the concept of a weekend. He sleeps most of the day and then loafs around the house as needed.

Thus far the weekend is going well for me. I've done some much needed shopping, will head out for a birthday dinner later on and at some point I would like to hit the beach.

There's a great piece in The New York Times magazine this weekend about Rick Rubin and his new post at Columbia Records. It's long, but a great article.

On a creepier note, I found this multimedia project from the St. Petersburg Times a few days ago about a 1987 murder case that was supposedly closed. Thanks to a recent fingerprint match, it seems that the guy who was locked up for the crime, the victim's husband, may not have donme it all. He has claimed his innocence all along. Check it out.

And since we all love bodega cats, here is my most recent snap of one named Nola, who lives over on Third Avenue.
