Dancing Machine

Dacning at your wedding

A wedding is nothing if no one is dancing. There are some fantastic ways to get people on the dance floor, the Horah being the best choice.

The past two days on SheFinds have been focused on dancing and music. We put together a playlist of the 20 happiest wedding songs, which should keep your guests shaking their groove thing. Today we found 10 different kinds of shoes that you can definitely dance in.

It's going to be a slow week, what with everyone trotting off for the holiday.
I came across this wedding gown on Pinterest today. It's too garish not to post.
Please let me know if you've ever seen anyone actually wearing this.

It's Sydney's Wedding!

Bride et moi

Wowzerz. If anyone's looking for an incredible location for their wedding, I highly recommend the Liberty House. It's about 100 yards across the Hudson River in Jersey City, (you can take a $7 ferry there) and Ellis Island seems as if it's part of the grounds.

Old Skool Syracuse friend Sydney tied the knot this past Saturday. It was a gorgeous affair that brought out the usual suspects of my ne'er do well college friends -- including a surprise guest appearance from Julie. While it rained a bit, I think there's something romantic about a rainy wedding.

Pre-game shots. TR busted out the three piece suit, because you can't wear any old thing to a Saturday night wedding.

I love a wedding (and my love of The Horah is well documented) but this video is *amazing*.

If your groom didn't do this for you on your wedding day...well..he's got a lot to make up for.

It's Christine And Mike's Wedding!

Smooch

Another weekend, another wedding! This week my old skool friend Christine, who truly knows where all the bodies are buried, married Mike, who went to elementary school with me. That means that their wedding turned into an informal high school/town o' Norwalk reunion, which was a nice change of pace. Everyone looks pretty much the same, and I'm happy to report that no one's put on an embarassing amount of weight or lost all their hair. Good job, kids!

The day was plagued with torrential rains and a band that didn't show up until almost 10:00 p.m. (The reception started at 6:30 p.m.) But thanks to an 11th hour call to a DJ and a bar that never stopped serving, everyone had a great time. Congrats, you two! I think you just might make it...

Full set here.

The church in Wesport. It was one of the few weddings I've ever been to that actually started on time. No one keeps the Episcopal church waiting!

TR and I, windswept and damp from the downpour that hit right before the ceremony. In our haste, he left his tie in the car and he felt naked.

Christine left flip flops in the bathroom for the ladies to take in case their feet started to hurt from dancing. Genius.

Speaking of, here we are in the ladies' lounge. It's the only place to catch a moment with the bride.

Two attractive people. TR snagged a tie from a guest who had an extra and he felt balanced once again.

The cake: Pineapple carrot cake with cream cheese icing. Incredibly good. I almost ate the extra slices left at our table, but that would have been gauche. Then again, why waste perfect good cake?

First dance.

My feeble attempt at an artsy shot, if blurry and overexposed counts as artsy.

It's Liz And Jared's Wedding!

The Happy Couple!

You know it's business as usual on Planet Pauline when I'm busting out the hot rollers and cocktail dresses to go to a wedding. Last night Liz and Jared were wed, and it was one of the best weddings I've been to in a long time. Also, we left Andre with La Madre in Manhattan, so TR and I could tear it up sans baby. Full set here.

In the cab to Grand Central. Off we go to Whitby Castle! And the open bar!
In the cab -- off we go!

The Metro North was an abysmal experience, as usual. Right outside Mamaroneck the train had some "electrical problems" and I was only slightly surprised the whole thing didn't burst into flames. The good news: They reupholstered many of the seats.

I've known Liz since the sixth grade. I think I told her about one hundred times how wonderful she looked. Best. Bride. Ever.
Gorgeous! Love the dress, hair, everything

Hello, champagne. It's been a while, old friend. I don't know what kind was in the champagne toast, but it was eye-poppingly good.
