The Five People To Call When You Get Engaged

Over the next week or so a lot of people are going to get engaged. Once the initial thrill wears off, you need to start making some phone calls. I came up with a list of five people -- not your parents or immediate family -- to call before you make the announcement Facebook official.

Diamond Rings And Other Bling

engagement rings

Earlier today I mentioned that while I am not motivated by food, many other things get me just as jazzed. Music is obvious, and jewelry is another big one. Why spend $300 on dinner when you can get yourself a bauble from Baccarat? (I actually own that piece, among others.)

It was a joy and a privilege to be able to put together a collection of amazing engagement rings for SheFinds. It's nice that we live in a time when there are so many options, from platinum to rose gold to colored stones.

If you ever wondered what the inside of my head looks like, this slideshow is pretty much it. I picked out all but two of these rings.

The Greatest Proposal Ever.

A friend of mine was proposed to this weekend in China. In Tiananmen's Square. (She's not Chinese.) That, hands down, in the coolest proposal. Ever. No one will be able to top that. If you do, please let me know. Sure, Paris proposals are nice, but it's been done, redone and overdone. Paris is always better than a restaurant proposal and a Jumbotron proposal deserves an automatic hell, no.

But Tiananmen's Square? That's a new kind of awesome.

I am looking forward to the classy, Rowayton wedding. Is it too early to put in a vote for bagpipers? I heart bagpipers.

Congrats all around!!
