SJP, On Why She Stays In Manhattan.

This month's issue of Vogue has a great profile of Sarah Jessica Parker. It covers a lot of ground, but she nailed it when she explained why she stays in New York City -- with three small children.

"I can't imagine living in seclusion. We flirted with it. We went outside the city and troubled all these Realtors and stood in these homes and fantasized and then I kept picturing nine o'clock...The beautiful thing about New York, is that you have to expose yourself to other people the minute you step outside the door. There is no choice. And I love that."

It's not that the suburbs aren't pretty and spacious with lots of nice people. When night falls what are you supposed to do with yourself? Watch Dancing With The Stars? Eat?

In one paragraph she explained why people stay in Manhattan and deal with space issues, expensive everything and the crowds. It's because we need it. People who are meant to be in the 'burbs wash out early. The rest of us armadillos stay, because there isn't anywhere else we'd thrive.

Random Pics From The Weekend

I scooted up to Boston this weekend for a quick getaway and took a few shots along the way. The Volvo Ocean Race was docked for a few weeks, and everyone came out to see these sick sailboats.

I love going out to the suburbs because it reminds me of what a City Slicker I am. I wanted to show my dad the Bugaboo I got for for my shower, but the Babies R' Us in the 'burbs didn't carry it, claiming it was "too high end." Really? It seems that in Manhattan you can get one at every corner bodega. In fact, I'm not sure you're allowed to have children in Manhattan if you don't have a Bugaboo.

Outside of NYC, it seems that everyone has something called a Snap N' Go, or whatever, which goes from car seat to stroller. I got the hard sell on them, but suburbanites overlook the fact that New Yorkers don't drive. We walk. Everywhere. We get on on the bus. Cars are what you do when you get out of the city.

And now for some photos.

Thanksgiving, It Is Going Well

I'm out in Easton, PA for Thanksgiving with TR's family. It's a rural little town and TR's family's place is built in the middle of a very hilly golf course. Yesterday before dinner TR and I headed down to the greens and took some photos. Yes, we brought Peppe and Valentino, and they have been quite a hit.

One of my faves.

I have eaten my body weight in food and plan to camp out at the gym for the rest of December. Getting out into the country is a lot of fun. The quiet is good for the mind. Later today we are headed to Wegman's and Target! YAY!

This is a bird's nest we found in a tree, made out of everything from plastic bags to fabric to, of course, sticks.
