New Yorkers And Rain

I am fascinated by the way New Yorkers freak out every time it rains. Ladies pull on their colorful Hunter boots, giant umbrellas come out of the closet and for some reason subways get steamy and humid. (I never understood that phenomenon. Physics people, help me out?)

Today we had quite a downpour, so bad that I had to hang out in the lobby of a building just three blocks from my apartment to wait it out. There were about ten other people in there with me, all in awe of the rain. It reminded me of this bit from Seinfeld.

This morning's rain reminded me that when it pours during the morning commute New Yorkers Lose. Their. Minds. Forget about letting someone with a small child get on the bus first. He with the strongest will and largest umbrella gets on the crosstown bus first.

Although this morning's rain certainly justified wearing bright Hunter boots, which we know the ladies love.

Things I Recommend: Running In The Rain

Not a Bad View

Last night after handing off keys to my most favorite client ever, (Sniff, sniff. Party's over.) I was itchy for exercise and I headed out for a run despite the persistent drizzle. Little did I know that the rain would turn into a downpour, and that I would be dodging lightening as I ran. In the end, though, it was still a good time.

There's something very 8 Mile about this shot.

It's Raining. Meh.

just another amazing NY moment..., originally uploaded by mihay.

The weather channel has a blog about this rainstorm. Wind! Flooding! Destruction! Good times!

Last night I was dragged to the Westport Country Playhouse, where many a great actor has graced the stage including Paul Newman, Liza Minelli, etc. I saw a confusing play called "All About Us" which was about a half hour too long and leaned on the hokey side. However, Eartha Kitt was in it and she was phenomenal. I think she's about 81 years old now.

I filed for an extension to finish my taxes, and for some reason this makes me feel lazy. The last time I filed for an extension I was in college. Hmm. Am I regressing?
