Manhattan Time Lapse Project
I like to think that I'm a good photographer, but realistically everyone on the planet does it better than me.
Case in point: This time lapse by Cameron Michael shows some great angles of New York City. I love the color saturation throughout. You must check it out.

My friend Jason took this photo a few days ago on the subway with his iPhone. It sparked a lot of chatter on Facebook: Where was this guy going? What's with the roses? Did he score? We may never know, but it's still a nice photo, albeit a little sad.

Other People's Family Photos
A friend of mine was showing me some old family photos last night and I thought they were kind of awesome. His family is from upstate New York, and these photos were a great slice of Americana. Just normal people having weddings, barbecues and going on vacation.
He gave me a few to blog, mostly because I liked all the dresses his mother and grandma used to wear. Do you have any family photos I could post? I'm kind of obsessed.
I want this dress. This is his mom at the prom. Methinks it's about 1965 or so. Maybe earlier?

These two are of grandma, who is quite the stylish lady, judging from the photos.

How come no one wears dresses like this anymore? More importantly, how long does it take to get into one of these?

This is a high school prom in upstate New York. Everyone looks so sharp!

Bathing beauties, circa 1950 or so. Great. Shot.

My family also plays instruments together, but no one ever brings an accordion. My friend, who is part Polish, has many family photos that include accordions, much less an upright bass. Awesome.

Polish pride.

Great Photos By TR!

TR and I had a lovely afternoon walking around the Brooklyn Bridge, DUMBO and back over the Manhattan Bridge. He took some great shots of me that I need to share, if for no other reason than to spread Tom's talent to the masses.

TR's NYC Ghost Buildings
TR found a few "ghost buildings" around NYC and has started photographing them. Basically, they are outlines of buildings superimposed on the buildings next to them through years of soot and dirt.
Here are two ghost buildings that he found yesterday. Do you know of any more?

Amazing Photos of Peppe

If you haven't seen these shots on Flickr or Facebook already, here is the story: This past weekend I was busy officiating a wedding, snow shoeing and basically being out and about. I didn't want to leave Peppe alone in a dark apartment for so long, so I sent him over to TR's apartment, which is high in the sky and drenched in sunlight. TR, an art guy, took these wonderful shots of Pep during his visit. Oddly, if Pep were any other color other than orange, I don't think these photos would work as well as they do.
Forget for a moment that these are photos of Peppe, who is awesome in his own right. Instead, try to appreciate these shots for their artistic qualities: the use of natural light, composition and color. TR nailed it each time.
These are a few of my favorites.
