It's the end of August and Manhattan is a bit of a ghost town. I don't want the blog to turn into one as well, so for the next week or so there may be some random content up here. I figure it's as good a time as any to indulge in some of my more esoteric interests, like early 90s hip hop and economics.
First thing first: the ladies and I are doing a few races come the fall. If anyone is interested in joining us, the dates are as follows:
Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure, Central Park, September 18th. (5K)
Rock N Roll New York 10K, Saturday, October 22nd. Prospect Park, Brooklyn
Poland Spring Marathon Kick Off. Central Park. Sunday, October 30th (5 miles)

Post Race Sweaty Photo = Total Hotness
Some people sleep in on Sunday morning. I prefer to get up for an 8:00 a.m. race around Central Park. Today was just a short four mile hop. There's another one on Saturday.
Since the weather is decent today, I started strolling down Madison Avenue in search of coffee and ended up walking all the way down to Murray Hill, an extra two and half miles. This is what happens when I start listening to show tunes on my iPod.
This photo was taken literally less than five minutes after finishing in 39: 13. Decent time, but need to get the lead out. Also: a hairbrush.

The post-race, post-shower, clearly I found a hairbrush photo. It's a wonderful day in Murray Hill.

It's The Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure!

Who wakes up at 7:00 on a Sunday morning just to run three miles? I do, as did about 10,000 other people who were at the starting line at 9:00 for the Susan G. Komen Race For the Cure 5K. I finished in just under 29 minutes. Ka-pow! Not bad for three months post partum.
My partners in crime, Anastacia and Jenny.

Jenny et moi. She's tiny, ergo, I look huge. I ran with those sunglasses on my head. I forgot to leave them at the bag check.

Starting line. Yes, there were that many people.

Super sweaty fresh off the finish line and slightly amazed that I finished in 29 minutes.

The post-run brunch gang. Tom = cock in the hen house.

I wasn't aware there was a difference.

Ladies love babies!

It's almost March, which means that it's time for races in Central Park! I'm a member of the Road Runners club, and I just signed up for the Colon Cancer Run as well as the Scotland Run, which is a 10K. For months I've also been slated to run the 10 Mile Mother's Day Race which is sponsored by the Junior League. We started training at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Good times!
I'm buying new sneakers at lunch today, which is always a good time, and an easy way to drop $100.
