At Last! A Book About Huguette Clark's Life. Must. Read.

I have been obsessed with Huguette Clark ever since I first read about her death in 2011. To think that at 907 Fifth Avenue, a building I've been in quite a few times, had several of her giant apartments inside that hadn't been touched since the first Bush was in office. Even then, they were essentially Jazz Age relics.

I was thrilled to learn today that someone has actually written a comprehensive book about Huguette's life. She was a known recluse, and even a bit of an oddball in her early years. There is only so much to be gleaned about her life online, so I'm excited to dive into the book once it comes out.

Gatsby Countdown

The Great Gatsby is one of the most hyped films this spring, and thank goodness it's coming out on May 10th. These teasers and trailers only add to my anticipation.

Perhaps moreso than the film, the soundtrack is getting quite a bit of buzz. As well it should. It has everyone on it from Beyonce to Florence + The Machine doing modern interpretations of jazz. Outrageous. A sampler that I found on Refinery 29 is below.

Of course, the amazing Jack White song, "Love Is Bliss."

And a new trailer! I love how the Daisy Buchanan character and I have the same hairstyle. Always a trendsetter.

In Keeping With The Gold Trend Today: Gold Wedding Dresses

Gold wedding dresses

Earlier today I posted The Great Gatsby shoot from Bridal Guide. Over at SheFinds we put together a slideshow of 10 gold wedding dresses. That should be your first step towards planning a Roaring 20s-themed weddings.

Writing for wedding involves a lot of fashion curation, and looking for these dresses was definitely a high point. They manage to toe the line between modern and traditional without going too far off the deep end.

The Price Of Gold Is Up — And So Is the Demand For Gold Wedding Dresses

Gatsby? What Gatsby?

The Great Gatsby as a wedding theme has been batted around for almost a year now, and it's a trend that I really hope catches on. I love the idea of a Jazz Age wedding, complete with lots and lots of gold accents. (If you ever wondered what the inside of my head looks like, that's pretty much it.)

Bridal Guide magazine has a wonderful styled shoot on their site today, and they included the following video, showing how the wedding sausage is made. But why on earth is the groom wearing a hat indoors? No man in the 1920s would have done that. (Or should do that now. Hats indoors are my #1 pet peeve.)

The Jazz Age Cometh

When BHLDN puts images like this in their e-blasts, how can I not spend almost half an hour looking at all their goodies?

Note that the woman on the left has the same haircut that I do. Ahead of the curve, kids.

Trends From The Jazz Age That I Hope Catch On

I'm a little disappointed that The Great Gatsby isn't coming out in theaters until nesxt summer. I was looking forward to the inevitable flapper fashion craze it would bring on.

So I wrote a piece about it for The Huffington Post/Stylelist. Bring on the bobbed hair.

Trends From The Jazz Age That I Hope Catch On

I've been on a big Jazz Age kick lately. I found this old New Yorker cover recently on Pinterest, which turns out to be a trove of all things Roaring 20s and Art Deco. I would love to have it in poster size.
