Brooklyn Boheme

Popular media may try to make it seem as if Brooklyn is having a moment right now, but the obvious truth is that Brooklyn's always been right where it is, and it's seen its share of creative movements.

Most notable is the talent that came out of Fort Greene the 1980s and 1990s. People like Spike Lee, Chris Rock, Rosie Perez and Branford Marsalis lived and thrived in the neighborhood long before hipsters and yuppies defected from Manhattan. This documentary looks into the artistic community. As an added bonus, Spike Lee's rant about gentrification at the end is priceless.
