Maybe my friends were lazy when they all got married, but I don't remember anyone doing anything involving a glue gun when they were planning their weddings, or even otherwise.
When researching this piece I was amazed by the amount of resources available for DIY weddings -- and I'm not talking about people overtly trying to do things on the cheap. Arranging -- and even growing -- your own flowers makes a lot more sense on a lot of levels than just writing a check to a florist. I don't know if I could make a wedding dress, but if sew on a regular basis, there's no reason why you couldn't do a wedding dress.
