In the past week at least three of the cabs that I've gotten in have had broken credit card machines. I'm starting to wonder if the cabbies are meddling with them so that people are forced to pay cash, as opposed to just swiping their cards, as I always do.

Is this happening to anyone else? I've been lectured quite a few times by cab drivers who don't like the credit card machines because it cuts into their tips, and I'm wondering if they've gotten to a point where they don't want to deal with them anymore.
