Smelling Like Weeds
The allergies got the best of me today, so I caved in and walked to the local Walgreens to get some anti-histimines. I wasn't pleased about this, because they tend to make me sleepy and I really wanted to go for a run and write later today. However, my sneezing and wheezing was driving Doug nuts, and I don't like to annoy people.
I walked to Walgreens and back, sweating a bit because it is summer and it is at least 80 degrees out. I got home, plopped myself down on the couch and tried to open the package of allergies pills. (Store brand, naturally.)
That's when Doug said, "You smell weird."
"Like what?" I asked. "Like sweat?"
Doug leaned in closer. "No. Not sweat. Like...weeds."
Weeds? As in grass, as in the stuff I was probably inhaling last night while cutting the hedges which is what made me so sick. A good sweat was forcing it out of my pores. That's both fascinating and gross all at the same time.
I just took a shower to hopefully rid myself of some of the smell. But is this normal? To smell like sweat when pollen and weed counts are high? Is this the same phenomena as when people stink like liquor after a long night of drinking?
Any insight would be helpful.
