Bags & Bubbles At The New York Junior League!
This is a great girl's night event on Thursday, May 3rd. It's a silent handbag auction with food and booze that raises money for women's cancer prevention. The VIP ticket -- which is totally worth it -- also gives you access to professional make up applications, masseuses and more.

Yet Another Huffington Post Piece....
I've been oddly productive this week. Last night I whipped up another piece for The Huffington Post.
This one is about why, despite all the hype surrounding the show, it's perfectly okay not to get all excited about Mad Men.

I wrote a new piece for The Huffington Post and sent it in for the Culture page. It ended up on the Comedy page. I guess they thought it was funny.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
I sauntered out onto Third Avenue in Murray Hill earlier this afternoon and it's full of drunk college students and girls dressed as slutty leprechauns. When did it become customary to dress up like Hussy O'Malley on March 17th? I'm sure their fathers are proud.
In the meantime, enjoy this video. They totally nailed the Real Housewives format. There are three episodes in all, and all darky funny.

Let's See Who's Smiling on Sunday
Just picked up my number for the New York Half Marathon!
Remember, if you donated to my fund for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, you earned the right to heckle me anywhere between mile 10 and 13.

Happy Pi Day!
It's 3/14! It's a math nerd holiday.
Of course there's a website.
Even babies like pi.

St. Patrick's Day Cometh...
Which means that since I live in Murray Hill, the drunk college students should be descending soon. Deep breaths...

Friends With Kids

I saw this last night and it's one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while. It's actually better than Bridesmaids, although Bridesmaids wasn't as funny as it was hyped up to be. (The two films can't really be compared.)
New Yorkers will find this movie quite topical, especially the bits about people having kids and defecting to Brooklyn. (It's all funny because it's true.)
Great piece in The New York Times about Jennifer Westfeldt. She's so underrated.

A Daily Dose Of Inspiration
I'm gearing up to run the New York City Half Marathon on March 18th, and have been doing loops of Central Park as well as strength training classes at the Crunch. I recently joined the Crunch, and am realizing what a difference it makes when you go to a gym that has a personality.

Be A Do Gooder

I've been on a real do-gooder kick lately. Last night I heard a great speaker from NYC Service, which is a city agency that aims to get more New Yorkers to volunteer.
They do some pretty incredible work -- such as getting volunteers to track students who are truant and back into school, among other projects. I found most interesting their public service project that alerts low-income and homeless people to the dangers of for-profit schools. Apparently these schools target these groups, have them take out massive student loans and, essentially, giving them nothing in return.
I figured I would mention NYC Service since people are always looking for ways to volunteer in the city. They'll take in corporate groups as well.
