I Have Your Halloween Pumpkin Right Here

Andre and his lovely mother. That's two Halloween themed shirts I rocked in one day. The third was a bedazzled sweatshirt.

Happy Halloween, Y'all!

I ran the Poland Spring Five Mile Race this morning -- bright and early at 8:30 a.m.!

I finished in roughly 50 minute. Official time 50:43. Gotta get the lead out. It's a gorgeous day for running in NYC.

And yes, I am rocking a pumpkin applique T-shirt. That's just the kind of gal I am.

The Quotable TR: Evolution Edition

TR: I wish the marsupials had won out over the mammals, evolution wise. Did you know that South America was once dominated by marsupials? There were even marsupials bears.

A Curious Sight On Irving Place

An abandoned, half-finished glass of wine, on a stoop, in the middle of the day.

It's nice to see Mad Men infiltrating daily life. Who says the two martini lunch is dead?

Found! And SRO On West 11th Street And Fifth Avenue!

The West Village is a tight market as it is, but to find a SRO (Single Room Occupancy) is pretty rare. Yesterday afternoon, though, I stumbled up one. Even more rare is that this one is very well maintained. Perhaps its proximity to NYU explains the clean hallways and very clean common bathroom down the hall. I saw students coming in and out during the 20 minutes I was there.

If all one needs is a room with a view, then this fifth floor walk up is perfect. It's 12 feet by 6 feet and judging from the floors and the fact that the sink and counter were taken out, I'm guessing the last resident was here for a looooong time.

Landlord didn't have a price posted for this yet. What do you think it should go for? $1,000 a month?

Welcome home!

Just enough room for a bed and a desk.

The floors need to be redone.

I love a wedding (and my love of The Horah is well documented) but this video is *amazing*.

If your groom didn't do this for you on your wedding day...well..he's got a lot to make up for.

A Matchmaker's Advice On Love And Life

Last night at The Junior League, a matchmaker came to our committee meeting. She is usually based in Texas and San Francisco and is expanding to New York City.

She said that when she speaks to men in Manhattan, their number one complaint is that the women are too aggressive. They often transfer the skills used in their career to romance yielding crummy results.

She suggested to the room of quite lovely young women, more than half of which are single, that everyone take it down a notch. No matter what they did for a living -- law, finance, real estate, whatever -- that for the first three dates they should focus on being happy and feminine, and all good things would come from there. After dealing with all the men that she does, she found that very few cared about income or education level, that the bottom line was that they just wanted someone who was happy.

Even if one isn't looking for a mate, I think it's good advice. Goodness knows that when I'm under stress I turn into the third Millard brother with an arsenal of inappropriate jokes. That's never a pretty sight, or good for business.

Old People Are So Cute

This afternoon I was checking out a building on East 55th Street. It's a pre-war building, and lots of senior citizens live there.

On one floor I saw this note on the door, which made me laugh.

A few floors down I got off on the wrong floor, and saw this. Classic. I love his honesty. I figured if I went floor by floor I would find similar notes.

If anyone would like to live there, there's a great one bed available for $2800. Specs here.

Buy A Ticket For The Fall Auction At Sotheby's!

The New York Junior League's Fall Auction is Saturday, November 13th and you can buy tickets here.

I recommend the $200 VIP tickets, because you'll get all kinds of perks and an awesome gift bag.

Also: there's still a little time left to get in your checks to underwrite the event. It's tax deductable, kids!

See This Film: Inside Job

Inside Job may be the cinematic equivalent of eating your vegetables, but it's actually a pretty good documentary about the 2008 financial crisis. Of course, many of the major players like Hank Paulsen, Timothy Geithner, Alan Greenspan, etc. aren't in it, but it's still worth a watch.

It's A Lovely Day For A Penthouse

It's a great fall day in Manhattan -- and this one bedroom with wrap terrace is available on 38th Street and Third Avenue, in a pristine pre-war building with a doorman. Great space, huge bedroom and tons of closets. At $3800 a month it's practically free. Great bachelor pad.

At Last, A Decent Meal

, originally uploaded by La Pauline.

With my manager, Karla, and a colleague at the Power Agents breakfast this morning, for the top five agents at Mark David & Company. I was number four in September, in case you were wondering.

It was nice to have a meal for once that wasn't croissant or a tray of sushi rolls from Dean & Deluca. We did it up right at The Mercer Kitchen.

I could use a tan, though.

Murray Hill Needs A Yoga Studio

This weekend I had to walk down to Gramercy (18th Street!) to take a yoga class. The people at the front desk were happy to see me, especially after three years. Since there is no yoga studio in Murray Hill, it was the closet place to go.

Which got me thinking over the weekend: Why is there no yoga in Murray Hill, and by extension, the Turtle Bay/Sutton area? The area is full of young professionals. Most of Murray Hill is under 30, particularly among females. There are three gyms -- Crunch, The New York Sports Club and Club H Fitness, but everyone knows that gym yoga sucks.

Making money off this would be like shooting fish in a barrel. Women *love* yoga. Even the biggest elliptical addict needs to tone her arms and inner thighs. Most people don't want all the chanting and spiritual mumbo jumbo either -- they just want a physical class where they feel nice and tight afterwards.

From a real estate standpoint, there is plenty of commercial space available along that stretch of the East Side. So why have none of the big guys -- such as Sal Anthony or Yoga Works, jumped on it?
