A Few Randoms From The Camera

Taped onto a mailbox in SoHo

In summer, berries are the best deal in town.

I went to see Swan Lake at the Met on Friday night with Erin. It was great. I was afraid I would get kicked out because I snuck in a sandwich after intermission. I think everyone appreciates ballet more on a full stomach, right?

New Yorkers: If we stop selling cupcakes on the street, we will have fewer silly young women migrating here, hoping to be a real life Carrie Bradshaw. It's you're choice.

The Quotable TR: Crazy Vietnam Vet Edition

TR: I had a dream last night that tigers were on the beach. One of the tigers had two heads. No one would listen to me about the tigers.

All You Really Need In Life

It's almost the weekend, which means the apartment hunters will be out in full force.

My company has an exclusive on the place below. It's the full floor of a brownstone on 14th Street and Seventh Avenue. Three real bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a wet bar, a dining room and living room, plus a balcony. Sweeping cathedral ceilings, parlor level and bright.

For the past eight years it's been the ultimate bachelor pad for three guys in finance, until they recently realized they were in their mid 30s and probably should live on their own. Or at least get married.

Bad news for them, good news for someone looking for a very unique space that could entertain a lot of people. $9800.

One huge bedroom. It's the size of most studio apartments. You could fit a bedroom and a living set in here.

Another bedroom, just as large

Same room, different angle. Great closets.

Little alcove area. Note wood floors and high ceilings

New Huffington Post Piece: My Annual Think Piece About The Summer Rental Market

A Broker's Tips On The Summer Rental Market
First birthday dessert

If you haven't already been to Nobi in Murray Hill, I highly recommend you do so. It's a little sushi joint on Third Avenue and 29th Street that you could totally walk past, but it's an amazing place. The food is wonderful, but the staff is great. The waitresses have been fawning over Andre since he was born, so it seemed like a great place to mark his first year of life.

I blew out the candle, though. It's my birthday, too, on Monday.

Andre Is A Very Happy Baby

...and a bit of a ham when you put a camera in front of him.

He'll be a whole year old on Friday, June 18th!!

Tiger Cubs! Yeah!

What's not to love about a pair of Sumatran tiger cubs? This NBC segment is quite well done.

It's been a very busy week here in Planet Pauline. But, in all the kerfuffle, I found two great deals.

First, the big guy: A real three bedroom in a lovely, pre-war doorman building on Madison and 36th Street in Historic Murray Hill. Huge living area, enormous bedrooms and a kitchen that would make any chef happy. Working fireplace as well.

If $6,000 a month isn't in the budget, (it happens) then this little guy on East 88th Street is the deal of the day. It's a real one bedroom with a new kitchen and an enormous backyard. It even comes with patio furniture and a grill. $1795 for outdoor space in Manhattan. Full specs here.

The Quotable TR: Bonafide Crumudgeon Edition!

Me: Where did you put that Cookie Kisses book?

TR: I can't stand that book. I don't like things that repeat. That's why I don't like Thanksgiving and Christmas, either.

East 72nd and Park One Bedroom. Yes, $3200!

I don't often venture to the Upper East Side. It's an area that is zoned mostly for residential and the inventory is vast. I do, however, like the East 60s and low East 70s. Before there was Carrie Bradshaw, there was Holly GoLightly, and she lived in the East 70s. It's an area that's aged well in terms of keeping its charm but not feeling stodgy.

Today I saw this one bedroom, on 72nd Street between Park and Lexington. It's a large and livable space in an elevator and laundry building. No doorman, but there's a great, live in super. Four blocks from the 68th Street subway station and a very short walk to Central Park.

It's $3200. Totally under priced for the amount of space and the clean renovation. It faces south and is pin drop quiet. Full specs here.

One Building, Two Exclusives

This was the week of new exclusives. I have two new ones on 37th and Park, in a gorgeous townhouse that has laundry.

First, the $2200 one bed. Deco fireplace, high ceilings, new kitchen and tons of closets. Third floor walk up.

On the first floor is a mammoth floor through unit with a backyard. It could also be used as professional space. Enormous living rooms and bedrooms, built in book cases, two bathrooms and yard. New kitchen, tons of closets. $4400.

The Case Of The Missing Wine Coolers

Wine Coolers Make the Party, originally uploaded by La Pauline.

Last night after picking up some dinner, I had a strange craving for wine coolers. Wine coolers, of the 1980s, Bartles & James persuasion. Those fruity, sweet and sugary treats that have led many a high school girl to make poor choices at weekend house parties.

Up and down Third Avenue I went, looking in bodegas and grocery stores. Nothing. I went home empty handed, well, with my salad, wondering why it was so hard to find them.

Do wine cooler distributors think that the denizens of Murray Hill are too sophisticated for wine coolers? Let me assure you, we're not. On humid evenings when El Rio Grande and Caliente Cab are too crowded for margaritas, taking a few home to go is a nice alternative. Given the demographics of Murray Hill -- young, professional, perpetually festive -- I submit that a bodega that sold nothing but wine coolers would do quite well.

Full Floor Of A Murray Hill Brownstone, One Bed With Yard Off Park -- $3200

It's June 1 and look what just fell into my lap -- a new exclusive! Behold this full floor of a Murray Hill brownstone with a backyard. It's on 35th Street and Park Avenue, smack in the middle of the Historic District and gut renovated. $3200. Full specs here.
